Workshop 1: Write with Your Reader in Mind: A Guide to Plain Language

In professional settings, our goal in written communication is to read as exactly that - professional. We often equate this professionalism with a complexity of language that may come at the expense of the focus or comprehension of our readers. What if we wrote instead with our readers in mind? What if we learned to default to plain language while still maintaining a strongly professional air in our writing? This workshop focuses on the importance of plain language as an issue of equity and inclusion and provides simple, applicable strategies to make your own writing both more engaging and accessible for its readers. For members of the Law Society of Ontario working toward their CPD hours, this program contains 1 hour of professionalism content and 15 minutes of EDI Professionalism content.

Workshop 2: Write with Clarity: Five Simple Strategies to Improve your Professional Writing

This is a workshop for lawyers and other professionals hoping to improve their written communication skills. Led by educator and #1 bestselling author Amy Stuart, Write with Clarity is designed to provide participants with simple and effective strategies to make their writing clearer and more engaging. For members of the Law Society of Ontario, note that this program contains 2 hours of Professionalism content.
