Amy Stuart founded Writerscape in 2018 as a means to meld her two passions: writing and education. She is an experienced educator and the author of four bestselling novels. In 2024, she co-authored Hall of Fame NHL player Mats Sundin’s acclaimed memoir, Home and Away. When it reached #1, she became one of the few Canadian writers to reach #1 on the bestseller lists in both fiction and non-fiction. Her novels have all been optioned for film and television.

Amy’s teaching career began in Toronto’s public high school system over twenty years ago. As an English teacher and guidance counsellor, Amy worked primarily with youth and adults from marginalized communities. Amy believes wholeheartedly that clear and accessible writing is both a vital professional standard and an issue of equity and inclusion.

Amy has a Honours Bachelor of Arts from the University of Guelph and a Bachelor of Education from OISE/UofT. In 2012, she graduated with high distinction from her Masters of Fine Arts in Creative Writing at UBC. She has facilitated workshops for corporate groups both small and large, and can tailor her courses and offerings according to different needs or goals. Amy is a member of Plain Language Association International, a group dedicated to promoting plain language communication in professional settings.

A lifelong hockey player, Amy is one of the only female head coaches in the Greater Toronto Hockey League, the world’s largest competitive youth hockey organization. She lives in Toronto with her husband and their three sons.
